Residents of Leeds have responded with sympathy to the recent news that a 19-year-old male had been shot dead in a planned attack.
Raheem Wilks was brutually murdered outside a barbers shop and a 49-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Later reports confirmed that the teenager who had been shot was the brother of Leeds United under-23 striker Mallik Wilks.
Wilks, 18, signed a new contract with Leeds last month and has been on the verge of making Garry Monk’s first team squad.
Despite the loss of his brother Monk told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he expected Wilks to be in his match day squad for the FA Cup tie against Sutton United.
He said: ” “I spoke to Mallik this morning, our focus is on supporting Maillk, we will deal with that internally.”
Leeds fans have been sending their tributes for Wilks and his brother Raheem.
Lets make sure the Leeds United family gets behind Mallik Wilks in his time of need, such a sad story, RIP Raheem Wilks🙏🏼 #lufc
