Labour candidate for Leeds North West calls for a city referendum on congestion charge

 

Candidates at the Climate Crisis Hustings: Leeds North West

Labour candidate for Leeds North West, Alex Sobel, has said that Leeds should hold a referendum on the introduction of a city-wide congestion charge.

The candidates for Leeds North West last night (December 2) attended a climate hustings for Leeds North West organised by Leeds Youth Strike for Climate, Our Future Leeds and Extinction Rebellion Leeds.

Candidates from the Brexit Party, Green Party and Liberal Democrats also attended the hustings.

The Conservative Party candidate Stewart Harper did not attend the event but sent a statement that was read out at the beginning of the event.

Brexit Party candidate, Graeme Webber, said: “When thinking about congestion charge, it’s all down to individual choice.”
