Britain’s youngest landlady has said that her first six months have been “amazing”.

This January marks half a year since Neve Baker-Wright, 19, from Grantham, took over the lease of The New Inn in Folkingham, Lincolnshire.

She was 18 when she was handed the keys last July.

“The overall experience has been amazing,” she said. “It’s going really well.”

She added that she has had “a lot of support” from the local community.

Neve took charge of the 19th-century, Grade II-listed building after being persuaded by the previous landlords to put forward a business plan to Admiral Taverns.

The teenager has since announced her plans for the pub’s future, including cocktail nights and themed events that aim to bring in a “wider variety of clientele”.

Neve’s dad, Andy Baker, has taken on the role of chef. He said that he was very proud of his daughter.

“I know she will put the hours in,” he said. “She already has.”

He added that the pub has had a “major revamp” since coming under Neve’s control.

“The vibes and atmosphere have been noticed by everyone who walks through the door,” he said. “It motivates us all to continue to sustain our high standards.”

Neve urged other young people with an opportunity such as hers to “have a go”.

“Don’t give up. Believe you can do it. Any outcome can happen at any age,” she said.
