Leeds event space Testbed was awash with vibrant colour as it welcomed those celebrating Holi Festival. Known as the festival of colours, Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates spring, love and a new life.
The event marks the end of the winter and welcomes the spring season, and is often held in March. On the first night, bonfires are lit and grains such as popcorn, coconut and chickpeas are thrown into the flames.
On the second day, it’s party time! People will celebrate on the streets or at specific events. An iconic aspect of the festival is the throwing of paint – it wasn’t long before those at Testbed were covered head to toe in various bright colours.
