After languashing in the National League drop zone for most of the season, five wins in their last seven games has seen Guiseley dramatically pull away from the relegation scrap.
The Lions are in their second season in the fifth tier, after being promoted from the National league North for the first time in their history in 2015, following a stunning 3-2 comeback victory against Chorley in the play-off final.
Recent victories came against Eastleigh and Sutton United, best known for their memorable FA Cup campaign, making it to the fifth round before being knocked out at home by Arsenal.
With nine games left to play, Guiseley find themselves just five points behind 11th-placed Bromley, making a push for a respectable mid table finish, an impressive feat considering they were seen as relegation certainties until just a few months ago.
Fans have taken to Twitter to get behind the club. Leeds Trinity sports journalism graduate Ben Cropper believes that keeper Jonny Maxted, who joined the club from Forest Green in November, is rightfully being singled out for praise, and should be in contention for National League player of the year.
Some transformation @GuiseleyAFC! @jonnym_13‘s rightly getting the plaudits, must be a @TheNationalLge player of the season candidate?

@GuiseleyRadio @GuiseleyAFC It’s a bit of a better trip home when you have a smile on your face. Safe journey boys.

Fellow fan Craig Brigg believes the victory over strugglers Torquay was a vital win for the Lions.
And the 6 pointer goes to Guiseley 😀 – the very least they deserved after heroic performance today at Torquay @GuiseleyAFC
