Chris Wood in numbers

THIRTEEN YEARS

…since Leeds spent as much money on a player. The signing of Wood is the Whites’ largest dip into the transfer market since signing Nick Barmby from Liverpool for £2.75 million in 2002.

NINE ENGLISH CLUBS

…Leeds is Wood’s ninth club having –  at only 23 – already played for West Brom, Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol City, Millwall, Leicester and Ipswich.

THIRTY-NINE CAPS

…for New Zealand. The striker has already notched up 13 international goals for the All Whites.

THREE AND A HALF MILLION

…pounds has been spent on the Kiwi striker. The £2.5 million spent by Leeds follows on from the £1 million forked out by Leicester to sign him from West Brom in 2013.

TWO-THOUSAND AND TEN

…World Cup appearances. Wood came on as a substitute in all three of New Zealand’s draws at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, when the All Whites were eliminated from the tournament without losing a single game.

TWENTY-TWO

…the age Wood became the youngest ever captain of New Zealand, when he wore the armband in a 1-1 draw with China.

ONE

…Premier League goal. Wood’s only top-flight strike was a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Everton last August.

NINE

…the shirt number Wood is expected to be given for the new season, following in the footsteps of legendary Leeds No.9s like Mark Viduka, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Jermaine Beckford.
