Doncaster travel to play-off chasing Fleetwood

Doncaster are having their best period of the season ahead of their trip to Fleetwood, entering the matching on a four game unbeaten run. However Rovers will be looking to respond to the disappointment of dropping two points due to a last minute equaliser in their Yorkshire derby against Rotherham last weekend.

Darren Ferguson speaking to Doncaster’s official website ahead of the match said his sides recent good form is evidence that Rovers are starting to adapt to life in League 1, following their promotion last season: “We knew it would be a step up from what we faced last season, we’ve done well in games and our performances have been better than the results we’ve had.”

Uwe Rosler’s side will be looking to bounce back from their recent 1-0 loss to MK Dons, regaining their early season momentum. The Cod Army made a flying start to the season winning their first three league fixtures but have won just four times in 14 matches since.

However it was at this time last season that Fleetwood started their impressive 18 match unbeaten run that put them firmly into the mix for promotion.

Midfielder Kyle Dempsey thinks his side can once again close the gap to their rivals, as the league takes shape over the festive period: “I think that around Christmas time you will get an understanding of where the league is.”

Doncaster have a no fresh injury concerns with defender Niall Mason back available for selection leaving Ferguson with a squad of twenty players to pick from.

Only Oldham (62) and Bristol Rovers (55) have had more goals in their games this season than Fleetwood (53)

Saturday’s fixture will be only the fifth time that Doncaster have played Fleetwood in the football league. Both sides have won once with the other two meetings ending in a draw
