Community, cheer and santa dashers: Leeds park runners raise money for St. Gemma’s Hospice

Yorkshire’s largest hospice brought more colour to Park Runs across Leeds with their Santa Dash, raising money and bringing a sense of community before the holidays.

St. Gemma’s Hospice helps people with life limiting illnesses and incurable diseases, and they get their funds through events like these, donations and their charity shops in Leeds.

The Christmas-themed run was organised at five park runs: Bramley, Rothwell, Roundhay, Temple Newsam and Woodhouse Moor, hoping to raise around £10K for the hospice.

To make it more sustainable, the single-use Santa suit was swapped for a T-shirt and a Santa hat that the runners enjoyed. The cost of a ticket was £7.50 and included the t-shirt, hat and a medal at the end of the run.

Anyone who would like to donate, volunteer or get involved, is encouraged by St. Gemma’s to reach out on their website: St Gemma’s Hospice | Yorkshire’s Largest Hospice.
