A CHARITY shop in Wakefield which was broken in to and had cash and jewellery stolen has received a helping hand from the local police and businesses just in time for Christmas.
The Barnardo’s charity shop on Stanley Road in Wakefield was targeted by thieves on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th November.
Thieves broke into the store room, stole stock and broke internal doors, but police officers have raised £200 from their tuck shop.
There has also been donations made by local shops too as they donated more stock and a new security system.
Police Community Support Officer from West Yorkshire Police Nicola Curtis said: “The attack on such a well-known charity was a particularly callous offence.
“The people who broke in caused a significant amount of damage in store and I think the nature of what has taken place has caused real offence among people in Wakefield.”
