Bramley Phoenix 14-22 Yarnbury RFC

Yarnbury gain a tense win over Bramley Phoenix after tries from Lee, Whitfield and Falgate help the men in blue battle through tough conditions.

It was a tight start in wet and muddy conditions, but Yarnbury almost had first try when second row James Falgate bounced off several Phoenix players, he tried to offload the ball, but it ended as a knock on. Eventually Yarnbury would get their first try after a long pass from Bramley saw an interception from centre Max Lee who would score under the posts and fly half Daniel Pound scored the first conversion. Just before the end of the first Yarnbury managed to get their second try when hooker Thomas Whitfield dived over the try line from the maul to score and it would remain 0-12 to Yarnbury at halftime after a missed conversion from Pound.

The second half was all Yarnbury at the start after Bramley failed to collect the ball Yarnbury full back Alex Lee kicked the ball towards the try line until Bramley replacement Callum Stevenson pushed him down where he would be penalised, and sin binned for and Pound went for three and got the penalty to increase Yarnbury’s lead. But Bramley would finally get their first score when winger Tom Hutchinson managed to score at the corner and he had a tough conversion but got it. The comeback was looking to be a reality for the men in green when front row Bruce Cowley was able to score under the posts after solid defending from Yarnbury and Hutchinson would get the conversion. There would be a huge sigh of relief for the men in blue after Falgate would finally score his try after a tense couple of minutes of forward work and Pound scored the conversion which would seal the game for Yarnbury.
