Bradford City no longer unbeaten but looking to bounce back against Southend

League 1: Bradford City v Southend United

By Richard Wright

Bradford City will face Southend United as they look to put their only defeat in the league this season behind them.

Their disappointing defeat to Oxford away from home to a very late goal, ended the Bantams’ unbeaten league record of nine games, their longest unbeaten start in club history.

However, Bradford City, who are 2nd in the league, will not want to let any more crucial points go to waste this season. Scunthorpe United are opening up a healthy gap between 1st and 2nd early on with an eight-game unbeaten league record.

Southend United will be looking to upset the Bantams even further at the Coral Windows stadium, as they look to get their first win away since August. Their win last weekend against Chesterfield may have sparked some confidence back into the struggling Shrimpers. A win at Bradford could potentially move them into a mid-table place as there is only a three- point difference from 10th to 19th.

Bradford City have injury problems as James Meredith is doubtful to start after twisting his lower leg at the weekend against Oxford. Matt Kilgallon could make his first league start if he fills in for Meredith at left back.

Bantam’s striker James Hanson, is looking to make a return to the pitch after missing six matches due to a calf problem.

There are no new injury or suspension concerns for Southend United. They are expected to be unchanged at Bradford.
