2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Switzerland vs Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland and Switzerland are set to fight out for second in Group C at the Geneva Stadium on Saturday.

First place in the group is currently occupied by Italy, and the bottom of the group includes Bulgaria and Lithuania.

The most recent game between the sides was in August in Belfast, and it was already a very tight 0-0 draw.

The two teams have each won two games, lost two and drawn three games in the historic match-ups.

However, Switzerland’s team, led by Murat Yakin, seems to have an advantage since they pulled off at the 2020 Euro by going to the quarter-finals and losing to Spain. Gifted players like Lyon player and Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri and the captain Granit Xhaka will be present and playing, but also great younger players such as Breel Embolo and Ruben Vargas.

Northern Ireland’s team, led by Ian Baraclough and with Steven Davis for captain, seems to have less results, and they have only won one match against Lithuania during the World Cup qualifiers.
