Sheffield Steelers Head Coach Aaron Fox has added a two-way defenceman and a power forward into the Steelers roster on a loan deal from HC Innsbruck before deadline day closed tonight.

Fox has added 23-year-old centre/right winger Nico Feldner to the group for the remains of this campaign.

Feldner joins the Steelers from HC Innsbruck after playing 44 games with them so far this season, posting a total of 24 points.

Fox confirmed the deal saying, “We have agreed to terms on a loan agreement with HC Innsbruck for Forward Nico Feldner for the end of the season.”

“Nico is a big, bodied forward who had a breakout year in Austria this year.  At 23 years old he played big minutes and contributed on their Powerplay. He finished the year with 24 points in 44 games. He’s looking forward to extending his season and coming in to help us achieve our goals.”

“He can play Centre or Wing and should give us some added size”.

Fox’s second signing of the 2021/22 deadline day is 6’1 defenceman, Antonin Boruta.

The 33-year-old is on loan for the rest of the season from HC Innsbruck after the announcement that Daine Todd will be added to the injury reserve list after an incident against the Coventry Blaze on Sunday.

He has 9 points in 39 games so far this season with HC Innsbruck and a +/- of +18.

Fox commented “with Daine Todd out of the line up our transfer deadline needs were changed. We have agreed on a 2nd loan agreement with HC Innsbruck for defenceman Antonin Boruta.

“Antonin is a solid 2 Way Czech D who skates well and will give us some much-needed depth during the run-in.”

“He can play both sides and plays a very solid defensive game. He’s put up some good numbers everywhere he’s been and should be a great fit.”

Fox concluded, “I wanted to thank my close friend in Innsbruck Sports Manager Max Steinacher and their GM Gunther Hanschitz for helping us out here with these deals”.
