Struggling Yeovil host Crewe looking to pull away from the relegation places

By Jordan Rushworth

Mid-table Crewe Alexandra travel to 20th placed Yeovil Town on Saturday. The Railwaymen beat Stevenage 1-0 at home last weekend, to end a run of five straight league defeats.

Yeovil have lost just one of their opening six home games this campaign. However The Glovers’ have lost their last two league games, 2-0 at Newport and 1-0 at home to Colchester.

Darren Way’s side sit just three places above the relegation zone, having won just three of their opening 12 league fixtures.

Way reportedly asked Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp to come to the club in an advisory role, after he was sacked from Birmingham in September.

Crewe lost 3-0 at Huish Park last season, manager David Artell believes his side can learn from that defeat ahead of this weekend’s meeting. “It is important that we try and learn from what happened last season. We have examined how they scored their goals and tried to look at their philosophy.”

Yeovil will be without Daniel Alfei after the defender suffered an ACL injury. This latest injury leaves Way with a squad of just 20 players to pick from until January. This is heightened this season after changes to the loan system over the summer prevent League 2 teams from making emergency loan signings.

Artell will be without the injured George Ray, James Jones and Ryan Wintle for the trip to Yeovil. Top scorer Chris Porter may once again be left on the bench, after Jordan Bowery scored the winner against Stevenage las week.
