LIVE – Saturday kick-off

Good afternoon and welcome to todays coverage of the football league games being played around Yorkshire starting at 3pm. Our main fixture this afternoon is Huddersfield’s trip down to London as they face Watford. The Terriers are yet to win a game this season whereas Watford have had a bright start to the season.

Huddersfield come in to this game following a 1-0 home to loss to Liverpool last weekend, Watford however are on a back of 2-0 victory away to Wolves. Can Huddersfield pick up their first win of the season or can Watford cap off a successful month? We will find out in the next ten minutes.

The other games that I will be focusing on include is Sheffield Wednesday’s away trip to Birmingham where a win for either sides will put them just outside the top six. Wednesdays fierce rivals, Sheffield United, face Wigan Athletic at home today.

A win for The Blades could see them top the table by the end of the day depending on Leeds and Middlesbrough’s results. Hull travel to Bolton today in a clash at the bottom of the table, Bolton are seven points clear of The Tigers but a win today for Hull would see them take a huge step forward.

I will also be keeping you up to date on Bradford City’s clash with Gillingham as our League One fixture today.

FULL TIME.
Watford 3-0 Huddersfield Town
Sheffield United 4-2 Wigan Athletic
Birmingham 3-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Bolton 0-1 Hull City
Gillingham 4-0 Bradford City

We were treated to a goal fest today in our five games with their being 15 goals across the three leagues. Huddersfield were unfortunate not to score today as Ben Foster made some important saves but at the other end the defence just couldn’t cope with the attacking threat Watford had to offer. Goals from Pereyra, Deulofeu and Success made sure Watford were getting all three points. Huddersfield remain winless this season so far as the pressure increases on the team and David Wagner.

It was a fantastic day for Sheffield United as they move up to the of the tree after Billy Sharps hattrick sent them on their way. Leeds United can only knock them off the top if they win later this evening. After the loss, Wigan remain 14th in the table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Sheffield Wednesday’s afternoon started well when they took the lead but since then it went down hill for The Owls as Birmingham came back from behind to win 3-1. The win for Birmingham sends them to eighth in the table and only two points from the play-off positions, as for Wednesday they remain 15th in the league and only a mere seven points form Reading who occupy the final relegation spot.

In the battle at the bottom, Hull came out on top away at Bolton thanks to a strike from Frazer Campbell which was enough to secure all three points.

The win for Hull means they stay in 23rd place but have extended the gap between them and Ipswich who remain rock bottom.
Bradford City’s day went from worse to awful as they were hammered away from home 4-0 by Gillingham. Tom Eaves was the star of the show scoring two goals and even could have had a hattrick, but his penalty was nicely saved. Bradford remain bottom of League One and our in a fight for survival as they are dropping further and further behind from the rest of the pack.

That’s all from me today and my coverage of Yorkshire’s 3’oclock kick-off’s, Until next time, good bye.

What do you think?
