In-form Blackburn Rovers travel to Boundary Park to face an Oldham side who are on the rise, looking for their third win in three since their 5-1 defeat to Rotherham.
Rovers’ midfielder Elliott Bennett has recently penned a new deal with the club, keeping him at Ewood Park until 2020, much to the delight of Rovers’ boss Tony Mowbray. He said: “Elliott has shown great commitment to the club and believes that we are going to get out this division.”
Mowbray will surely be looking to include the 28 year-old in his team selection this weekend.
Oldham will be keen to continue their positive form in the league at home this weekend, after suffering an FL Trophy defeat to Crewe Alexandra last week.
Latics forward Eoin Doyle could be key for Richie Wellens’ side, after netting an important couple of goals to see off Portsmouth 2-1 away from home in their last fixture.
Oldham are still to name their new man in charge, since John Sheridan’s departure as Wellens’ side set out to add another three points to their league tally..
In past meetings, Rovers have won 28 league fixtures compared to Oldham’s 18, giving Mowbray’s side the edge.
This meeting will be an interesting one however, as Rovers will be looking to finish game week 13 in a play-off spot, whilst Oldham look to climb the table and continue their impressive league form.
