Leeds United’s Doukara has been awarded the Sky Bet goal of the month award for his superb volleyed goal against Nottingham Forest on the 25th of January.
The Whites hit-man received 69% of the votes, beating Tom Lawrence of Ipswich and Ben Osborn of Forest to the trophy.
Sky Sports commentator Don Goodman reacted to the announcement and told the EFL website: “It was an incredible selection of goals in the Championship this month, from silky dribbling from Lawrence, to innovation and technical brilliance from Osborn.
“But the winner had to be Doukara, for a simply sensational net-busting volley.”
Doukara himself also reacted to the goal: “I’m happy with the award. It’s a good trophy for me, the first one in England. As soon as the ball came back to me, I just tried to hit it.
“I looked at it for one second and ran away to celebrate, because I knew it was in. I was laughing on the pitch because I knew it was a good goal.”
