Leeds German Christmas Market named one of the best markets in the UK

By George Arkley

Leeds German Christmas Market has been named the fifth best Christmas market in the UK by VisitEngland.

Leeds Christkindelmarkt ranked just below Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, Southbank’s Winter Festival, Birmingham’s German Market and Bath Christmas Market.

The market is open until December 21, between 10.30am to 9.30pm (7.30pm on Sundays) and is based in Millennium Square, in the centre of Leeds.

Last year the market welcomed over 800,000 visitors.

Now in it’s 18th year, there are over 40 traditionally decorated chalet stalls selling handcrafted items, Christmas baubles and sweet treats.

The Alp Chalet restaurant serves German beer and Bavarian food, like Schnitzel.
