Guiseley Vixens vs Huddersfield Town

By Sebastian Sternik

Following a hectic schedule, which included four games in 12 days, Guiseley Vixens come into this all-important FA Plate second round cup game with a number of injury worries.

Emily Scot, who scored four goals in her last four games for Guiseley, will miss the local derby with an injury.

The Vixens are also likely to be without Katie Welham and Keegan Lambert who are still recovering from the busy fixture schedule.

The game will prove to be a special occasion for the current joint manager of Guiseley. Glen Preston enjoyed a very successful spell at Huddersfield before his departure in 2015.  He now prepares to face his former side for the very first time.

Speaking to the club’s website, Preston said: “We are the underdogs going into this game. If we lose it’s not difficult to brush it aside and if we win then we’ve taken a big scalp and we’ll see where the competition takes us.”

Guiseley are a division below Huddersfield, however the current leaders of Northern Division 1 are undefeated and cannot be overlooked.

Nevertheless, they will have to contend with Huddersfield who come into the game with a lot of momentum.

The visitors have won five consecutive games in all competitions and will be looking to maintain that winning run when they take travel to Nethermoor.
