Bradford Cathedral hosts breakfast for Fairtrade Fortnight 2023

Bradford Cathedral hosted a breakfast for Fairtrade Fortnight on Sunday 5th March.

The breakfast, provided by the cathedral’s Ecogroup members, raised awareness for fairtrade as it included many elements such as fairtrade chocolate, sugar and fruit.

The cathedral holds Ecocongregation status, and is the first in North England to receive the award. The architecture features solar panels and has a mission to be zero carbon by 2030.

Ecogroup member Mark De Villiers emphasised the value of choosing fairtrade in our daily meals.

“The Fairtrade Foundation has already done an awful lot to promote fairtrade but I still think a lot of people don’t quite understand it.”

“Fairtrade is part of the eco ethos of the cathedral. As a responsible citizen of Bradford, we need to be asking for it, and encouraging younger people. What we buy makes a difference to somebody, both in the UK and all over the world.”

Events at the cathedral for Fairtrade Fortnight ran until Sunday 12th March.
