17-year-old fights for life after assault in Leeds

A 17-year-old boy has been left fighting for his life following a serious assault in Leeds.

The victim is in a critial condition following what is believed to have been a targeted attack in Harehills Lane.

The incident happened at around 2.55pm yesterday (Sunday) at the junction of Harehills Lane and York Road, near the old Shaftesbury Cinema.

Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Stainbeck CID appealed for the driver of a red taxi, possibly a Vauxhall Vectra, to come forward after it was seen driving towards York Road shortly after the incident occurred.

He also said that a black male and white female, believed to be around 16 or 17 years of age, were seen running down Harehills Lane, away from York Road at the time of the assault.
