Corberán predicts tough away game against Baggies

Huddersfield Town face West Brom in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday night. The Terriers are on a 16 game winning run and are level on points with second placed Bournemouth albeit having played three games more.

The Terriers are coming off a disappointing result in the FA Cup with a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest and manager Carlos Corberán is hoping his side are able to bounce back.

Corberán did admit his disappointment of going out of the FA Cup on Monday night and said; “We had an option to kick on in the FA Cup, the players and myself dreamed of going onto the next round. Unfortunately we couldn’t do that and what we need to do is use this defeat in the best way and to help us improve.”

“We come back learning from the situation, and we have to think why we didn’t perform in the way we normally perform. For me this result was Monday was the consequence of not playing at our normal high standards.”

With only ten games left of the Championship season the Terriers sit on the cusp of automatic promotion to the Premier League. Corberán also broke down the differences between this season compared to last season and how depth within the squad has helped the club challenge for promotion. The Spaniard said “It was one of the learning points from last season as a club, trying to increase the depth in squad and in every position. This is so we aren’t affected by injuries that occur during the season.”

With West Brom struggling in the league and stuck in 13th in the Championship with a new manager Steve Bruce, it seems that the Terriers are heavy favourites to win tomorrow night. Huddersfield Town did beat West Brom earlier in the season with a 1-0 win at The John Smith Stadium.

However, Corberán dismissed that and said “The result we got last time was tight, it was a game where we couldn’t attack but we could counter attack in the second half, we didn’t have enough of the ball. We were defending more often than attacking.”

“West Brom is a team that makes it difficult for us to get a positive result. We have to show that we have improved as a team and have more possession and to dominate the game. We need to have more positive attacks and to keep defending as well as we are. This is going to be the key to getting a positive result tomorrow.”

West Brom host Huddersfield at The Hawthorns with kick off at 8PM. The game will be broadcasted on Sky Sports Football.
