Idyllic Yorkshire town takes top spot as best place to live in Northern UK.
According to the Sunday Times “Best Place to Live” list 2025, Ilkley, West Yorkshire, has been crowned as the North and North East regional winner. This is the second time in five years that the spa town has been awarded the title.
Ilkley Town Mayor, Damien Kearns, spoke with Yorkshire Voice shortly after the win had been announced. Expressing his pride for the recognition of the community, and the town’s recent achievements “It’s absolutely amazing to be honest with you. It would be hard to imagine anywhere that has such a vibrant and active community [as Ilkley],” he said.
“If you have a problem in Ilkley, someone will be able to fix it,” he said.
