Harrogate look to push on from Bradford win against struggling Barrow

Harrogate Town take on struggling Barrow this weekend sitting in 13th place in the League Two table.

They beat rivals Bradford City this week 3-1 away from home, with that win completing the double over local rivals, which the side haven’t been able to do in recent times.

Barrow currently sit 20th and this game could be a must win to push them up the table, as a loss could drag them into a relegation battle with teams like Oldham Athletic having games in hand. Barrow haven’t won in their last 6 games, so a win could definitely see their season turn around.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver says everyone at the club is “upbeat” after the win during the week against Bradford City. He talked about how proud he is of the group of players and the fans that travelled down to the game during the week, as they had 704 travelling fans making the trip.

He also said that the travelling fans believed him the group of players that played and that helped with their confidence to get the win.

Weaver said he was impressed with how his side controlled the game and loved how his side stepped up with this big performance, but can’t stop here and need to keep pushing forward to reach the goals the club have set.

Weaver is also impressed with the away form his side is showing as he mentioned Harrogate Town have scored 9 in their last 3 games. He also goes on to mention how impressed he was with his defence, and he hopes they continue in to produce performances like that week in week out.

When asked about Barrow AFC, Weaver spoke highly of Mark Cooper the manager of Barrow and speaks about how his sides are always well drilled and know how they want to play football.

He mentioned that he knows they play with good entertaining football and like to pass it around, allowing space for others to be created and speaks about how the Barrow side have several gifted players that can win a game on their own.

Weaver knows this will take a lot from his team to get all 3 points but after the performance during the week he is confident he can get the win if his players perform like they did against Bradford city.

Three points for Harrogate Town could see them go level on points with both Salford City and Hartlepool and could be a good win to push forward towards the end of the season.
