Candidates standing in the election for the Outer York constituency were questioned at a hustings event at the University of York on Wednesday night (December 6).

The York Outer constituency includes University of York students.

Julian Sturdy (Conservative), Keith Aspden (Liberal Democrat) and Anna Perrett (Labour Party) all took part in the panel, together with Tom Franklin for the Green Party, who is standing for York Central after stepping down from the York Outer area as part of an agreement with the Liberal Democrats.

The candidates explained how their party would tackle issues surrounding Brexit, NHS and the climate crisis.

They also vowed to hold weekly events to engage with constituents if elected.
