Grieving friends have laid flowers and messages at the crossing where a man was killed last night (Monday) in a hit and run accident on Stanningley Road.
James Gilbey, 25, who worked for British Gas, was crossing at the traffic lights near Hough Lane when he was hit by a car.
James’ girlfriend, Gaby Whithey, wrote: “A sunflower for my sunshine, a rose for my heart. I will love you until my dying day.”
Another message read: “James darling, with hearts breaking with sadness but full of joy for having loved you. Rest in peace, forever loved, never forgotten.”
British Gas said: “We were very sorry to hear about the death of our colleague, James Gilbey. Our thoughts are with his family.”
